ZEISS SEA Celebrates Earth Day with Sustainable Action

Every year, ZEISS employees worldwide show their commitment to environmental awareness, social responsibility, and sustainability as part of Earth Day. What began in 2023 as a pilot project with 8 participating countries and 200 Zeissians has reached its highest level of participation to date this year: 18 countries, 39 initiatives, and more than 900 ZEISS employees took part.

Teams around the globe once again implemented numerous initiatives. Besides local clean-ups and planting projects to protect biodiversity, projects such as monitoring butterflies and building bug hotels were also part of this year’s global initiative, demonstrating creativity through an expanded range of activities.

In Singapore and Malaysia, colleagues took pride in cleaning public spaces such as Coney Island and Zoo Negara. In Thailand, colleagues created new life with used coffee grounds by planting trees with them. In Vietnam, colleagues upcycled everyday scrap material into bags, scrunchies and more. In Philippines, seeds to harvest fresh produce were gifted to colleagues – an accessible way to garden in urban cities.

ZEISS has now become an official partner of the international environmental organization EARTHDAY.ORG and thus part of a global movement in over 190 countries. This partnership underscores how ZEISS, as a global company, actively takes responsibility for the environment and society.

For ZEISS, sustainability is not something we do only once. It's an integral part of our company's DNA.
