ZEISS SEA Reflects on Earth Day 2025: A Regional Celebration of Sustainability

Southeast Asia

6 May 2025

In celebration of Earth Day 2025, ZEISS Southeast Asia proudly joined the global ZEISS community in a series of impactful initiatives designed to promote environmental stewardship. While Earth Day officially took place on April 22, our teams across the region took action throughout March and April—demonstrating our commitment to creating a positive, lasting impact on our planet.

This year, the ZEISS Group undertook 34 activities in 16 countries worldwide, ranging from the renovation of wells in India to recycling workshops in Japan and stadium clean-ups in Europe. In Southeast Asia, our regional teams contributed with dedicated, hands-on efforts tailored to local environmental needs.

Highlights from Earth Day 2025 Across Southeast Asia

Employees of ZEISS Singapore on Earth Day 2025

Singapore

On March 27, 2025, the Singapore team kicked off the regional efforts with a coastal clean-up at Pasir Ris Beach. Volunteers gathered to remove litter and debris from the shoreline, contributing to cleaner waterways and raising awareness about marine ecosystem preservation. In total, the team collected 44.089 kilograms of trash, reinforcing the importance of collective action in tackling pollution.

Vietnam

Also on March 27, the Vietnam team hosted a hands-on recycling workshop, teaching participants practical ways to sort waste and reduce household trash. The event emphasized how small, consistent actions can lead to long-term environmental benefits.

Employees of ZEISS Philippines on Earth Day 2025

Philippines

The Philippines team held their Earth Day activity on April 7. Their urban farming workshop introduced sustainable growing techniques, encouraging community members to cultivate their own food and reduce their environmental footprint.

Employees of ZEISS Malaysia on Earth Day 2025

Malaysia

In Malaysia, a recycling drive was held on April 22, under the theme #TurningAwarenessIntoAction. This event served as a follow-up to last year’s Earth Day activities, focusing not only on reinforcing eco-friendly and sustainable practices but also on repurposing unwanted items within the workspace. This initiative was particularly timely as it coincided with preparations for an upcoming office renovation, allowing participants to contribute to sustainability while decluttering their environment.

Part of a Global Movement

The Southeast Asia region’s contributions were part of a larger global movement powered by the CSR Team of the ZEISS Group.
Around the world, ZEISS teams:

  • Renovated wells and donated school desks in India,
  • Supported cold aid efforts in Germany,
  • Collected waste in Japan,
  • Created seed bombs in Spain,
  • And collaborated with football clubs across Germany for stadium clean-ups.

These efforts reflect our shared belief that sustainability is a collective responsibility—and that together, we can lead real change.

A Lasting Commitment

Although Earth Day has passed, our commitment to sustainability continues. At ZEISS, we view environmental responsibility not as a single day of action, but as an ongoing journey. We thank all our employees, partners, and community members who participated in these activities and helped make a difference.

Let’s carry this momentum forward—not just in April, but every day.
