ZEISS FOR EYE CARE PROFESSIONALS

ZEISS Group Test Center

Setting the standard for quality

The ZEISS Vision Care Group Test Center offers an extensive range of performance tests for lenses and other products.

  • Extensive range of performance tests
  • Adapted to the customer’s needs
  • Reliable test results

The ZEISS Group Test Center ensures optimum lens performance.

As one of the world’s leading providers of products and services in the optical industry, the ZEISS Vision Care strategic business unit combines ophthalmic expertise and solutions with a world class, international and well-established brand.

Our global network

The tests involve any one of more than 40 processes, performed at three sites in Aalen, Germany; Tijuana, Mexico; and Guangzhou, China. The processes can also be customised and adapted to the customer’s needs.

  • Aalen, Germany

  • Tijuana, Mexico

  • Guangzhou, China

Driven by customers’ needs and expectations.

Quality tests are essential tools in the ZEISS organisation, not only for manufacturing purposes, but also for research and development, benchmarking and troubleshooting processes. The laboratory in Aalen, Germany is accredited according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 standards. Certain tests are within the scope of the accreditation and therefore promote a well-structured, standardised internal process landscape and more importantly, reliable test results.

Our tests

  • Bayer test

The Bayer test is used to measure the scratch resistance (surface hardness) of spectacle lenses.

  • Heat test

When exposed to heat, lenses and coatings expand and contract, causing a range of potential defects which can affect the optical quality of the lenses. This test is designed to assess the resistance of Anti-Reflective (AR) coated lenses to crazing due to exposure from dry heat.

  • Antistatic test

The Antistatic test is used to check whether the spectacle lens will build up a static charge. The lens is cleaned with a cloth and held over small pieces of tissue paper. If those small pieces move, the spectacle lens is statically charged and not acceptable according to ZEISS Standards.
