Special Filter Lenses by ZEISS

Special filter lenses absorb specific part of the visible spectrum.

With special filter, some of them also known as cut-off filters, ZEISS rounds off its range of filter lenses. Special filter lenses often enhance contrast and reduce the time required to adapt to different light conditions.

  • Enhances contrast
  • Helps to adapt to different light conditions
  • Absorbs part of the visible spectrum

Trying out Special Filter Lenses

There are no uniform, objective criteria for the prescription of special filter lenses. Instead, the most suitable lens is usually found by trying out the various options available. Patients subjectively compare and assess the visual comfort provided by the different types of filter lens available. Patients decide what filter lens is most suitable for their needs by comparing and assessing the visual comfort provided by various filter lenses. A filter clip for attaching to spectacles are available for this purpose.

Many patients require special filter lenses for different light conditions. This is why they often have several pairs of glasses or filter clips with different special lenses.

Increased contrast sensitivity, acuity, and twilight acuity

Special Filter F 451-452

The blue filter lens F 451 and the dark blue filter lens F 452 can be used to achieve a marked increase in contrast sensitivity, acuity, and twilight acuity. They absorb selectively in the wavelength range between 550 and 650nm (less than 20% transmission in this range) and therefore relatively let pass more light in the blue light wavelength range.

Special Filter F 451-452

Filter Clip with Special Filter Lenses

The filter clip is glazed with plastic 1.5 special filter lenses with plano power. They can be attached to practically any spectacle frame without difficulty.
The filter clip can be used as a supplement to existing Rx spectacles, are easy to handle and allow fast filter change if different filter colours are to be used. When not required, the clip can be folded upwards via a spring mechanism in its bridge support.

Increased visual comfort

Special Filter F 60-90 and F 540-580

The special filter lenses F 60, F 80 and F 90 and F 540, F 560 and F 580 have been optimised to absorb a part of the visible shortwave spectrum.
