With our camera lenses for large format, we offer high resolution image quality for technical and industrial applications. ZEISS lenses for industrial applications are key components in complex production processes as well as in measuring tasks, quality assurance and many other applications. Here they prove their outstanding image performance, reliability and high quality.

Lenses for large image format

ZEISS lenses are compatible with most industrial cameras. The F-Mount and the M42 Mount are popular standard for high-resolution industrial cameras with large sensor sizes up to 24 x 36 mm and for line scan cameras with sensors up to 43 mm. ZEISS lenses are widely used in machine vision, automation, quality inspection, optical metrology as well as in research and development e.g. with High Speed cameras. Thanks to the large image format, our objective lenses are ideal for the constantly increasing use of high-resolution image sensors with bigger sensor formats. Due to the precise manual adjustment of the helical focusing mount you will gain much better results than with comparable lenses.

The Infrared Edition of these lenses are suitable for the use with special cameras like IR cameras without an IR blocking filter.
The transmission of the IR lenses adds up to 70% at 1000 nm.

Stress test

ZEISS lenses need to operate perfectly in extreme conditions, withstanding everything from scorching heat and bitter cold to sandstorms and severe vibrations. The video shows how ZEISS researchers systematically submit lenses to extreme stresses in order to arrive at findings that can help in future lens design and development.

The Industrial Edition of ZEISS lenses are provided with lock screws for both the aperture setting and focus. Both the locking screws and the stable design make the lens inured to vibrations, improve measuring repeatability and avoid machine downtime.

New family of compact industrial lenses with image circle of 43 mm

The new ZEISS industrial lenses with an M42 thread mount feature a compact size, good image quality and a robust, all-metal body. They are approximately the same size as larger C-mount lenses. The new ZEISS lenses are equipped with a flexible and stable M42 thread and create an image circle of 43 mm. It is therefore ideal for imaging on area sensors between 1.3” and 24x36 mm, or line sensors between 28 mm and 43 mm.
The new lenses are only half the weight of the known ZF lenses from ZEISS and take up only one quarter of the volume taking into account the shorter flange focal distance . The very short flange focal length of just 26.8 mm also facilitates an overall compact camera lens system. The focus and aperture are fixed by knurled screws.
Thanks to their compact and stable design, the new lenses can better withstand shocks and vibrations.
 Typical applications include images taken with unmanned aerial vehicles, interior photos during crash tests and deployment for traffic enforcement. Furthermore, the lenses flex their muscles in quality inspection with industrial image processing systems (machine vision) featuring mid-range camera sensors (4/3, Foveon, APS-C, APS-H, DX etc.). Finally, these compact ZEISS lenses can be used by demanding customers for many additional applications.

ZEISS new Apo Distagon T* 1.4/55 with a 43 mm image circle convinces with technical properties as a condition for a stable image processing

In automated image processing high contrast and good sharp edges are a must for an easy running automated image processing. This ensures a stable process.
 Simiultaneously most professionals wish a large aperture for short integration times and high throughput.
With ist outstanding, especially at an aperture of 1.4 never achieved image performance the new ZEISS Apo-Distagon 1.4/55 stands for a change of paradigm in automated image processing.
It offers brilliant edge contrast, extraordinary resolution and shows hardly any chromatic aberration.
This is valid already at its aperture fully opened – at F/1.4!
As this lens is an Apo Distagon type its color correction is extremly good which has an very positive affect when imaging cylindrical shaped objects with shiny surfaces.

The lens is available with a F-Mount and an EF-Mount as standard.
 The lens consists of 12 lenses. Six lenses are made of highly specialised glass types with abnormal partial dispersion and one bilateral aspheric lens. The focusing works extremly precise and thanks to its floating elements design keeps the high performance both at infinity and close focus.
Typical Applications of this lens are e.g. the final inspection of displays or the inline inspection of textiles.
The Apo Distagon 1.4/55 does not serve only the current modern camera sensors but will also perfectly live up to the upcoming even higher resolving camera sensors in the field of automated image processing.

New super wide angle Distagon T* 2,8/15 for industrial use

ZEISS presents a new super wide angle lens in May 2012. The super wide angle Distagon T* 2,8/15 will be available with an EF (ZE) or F bayonet (ZF.2). With an extra-large angle of view of 110 degrees in combination with a fast f/2.8 aperture.
With an angular field of 110° it is possible to image a FoV of 400 mm to a 43 mm line sensor with an OO´distance of 260 mm.
Distortion is extremely well controlled with a maximum of only 2%
The Distagon T* 2,8/15 incorporates two aspheric lenses and special types of glass material with abnormal partial dispersion to provide an extraordinary correction of chromatic aberration. A floating elements design guarantees high image quality from close-focus through infinity.
Like the other SLR lenses in the ZE and ZF.2 series, stray light and reflections are well controlled by the ZEISS T* anti-reflective coating and the sophisticated treatment of the lens element edges with special light absorbing paint. The robust all-metal barrel of the Distagon T* 2,8/15 is designed for decades of reliable service. A long focus rotation and buttery-smooth action is perfect for users who want to take control of their picture making.
