ApoTome
ApoTome From Microscopy

The ApoTome from Carl Zeiss opens up a new dimension to conventional fluorescence microscopy. With this technical innovation, optical sections are obtained very quickly and with high quality. The ApoTome slider is simply inserted into the plane of the field diaphragm of the fluorescence beam path of the Axiovert 200 or Axioplan 2 imaging microscopes.

In addition to providing 2D and 3D images that are free of stray light, ApoTome offers better image quality and definition when the thickness of the optical section measures one Airy unit - corresponding to the optimum thickness of the optical section with a good signal-to-noise ratio. With thick sections in particular, this innovative ApoTome technique provides image quality never achieved before in terms of both its definition and its contrast. This high-performance microscopy technique has now become accessible to many users.

With the ApoTome, Carl Zeiss is continuing its strategy of providing homogeneous complete systems and solutions in microscopy.
