Carl Zeiss SEA is certified to ISO 9001:2000

Singapore. May 2002. Carl Zeiss SEA organization subscribed to the premise that the only true measure of quality is customer satisfaction. In May 2002, Carl Zeiss SEA was certified to the ISO 9001:2000 standard by the accredited body of TUV Rheinland Berlin-Brundemburg. The countries in the SEA organization included Singapore (HQ), Malaysia and Thailand.
The major focus of the ISO project was in the areas of systematic process approach, our customers, continual improvement, leadership and people involvement. We benefited from the support of our headquarters in Japan and Germany where the cross pollination of ideas in how we can improve things was foremost in our exchanges.
The Carl Zeiss SEA organization's certification audit by TUV took 6 man-days to complete with a thorough examination of the processed, procedures and documentation as well as an inspection of an on-site installation at a customer's premise in Malaysia.
What started out as our desire to clean-up and streamline our processes, re-invent the warehouse and simply be the best in everything we do, the project was now formalized with the label "ISO". Propelling the ISO project to fruition was a steering committee, a task force and several core teams. Quality manager, Ms Heather Lim worked closely with task force members and core teams to steer the project, track progress and communicated developments at every stage to all in the organization. The task force also took advise from our Asia Pacific headquarters in Japan helping us developed the quality manual and document control database, the communication spine for formal documentation. In addition, a monthly newsletter helped sustain interest and recognized contributions from teams as the project evolved.
It took 1221 days in SEA to bring this project to certification in which everyone has ownership of through their collaborative efforts. We have on-going improvement projects defined in ISO and see this as a "never-ending" endeavour. | Information
